Travelling with a microchip and pet passport: a guide

Travelling with your pet is quite easy with the right preparation. Although rules vary between countries, the basic steps are usually the same. Here's what you need to know.
Microchip: the first and mandatory step
The microchip is your companion's unique identity and a prerequisite for travel. The small chip implanted under the skin is recorded in the registry.
Pet passport
The passport contains vaccination records, the microchip number and health information. It is requested when leaving the country.
Rabies vaccine and titre test
Many countries require a valid rabies vaccine; some additionally request a titre test (antibody-level measurement). Timely planning is important for this test.
- Start planning at least a few months before travel
- Check the destination country's current entry rules
- Track the validity dates of documents
The process varies by country; share your plan and we'll map out a route tailored to you.
